Composition and manufacture of lumitec products
Lumitec light sources consist of high borosilicate glass vials containing pure tritium gas under near atmospheric pressure.
Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen and has chemical properties similar
to hydrogen.
Tritium decays by emission of a soft beta particle at a rate of 50% every 12,3 years(this is the half-life of tritium).
No gamma radiation is emitted during the transformation process.
Beta rays are of such low energy that they cannot penetrate, for example, through the page on which this information is written on.
